Welcome to page five of a journey through the year 2002 in my garden.
Late March

M
arch was a roller-coaster. The temperatures continued to be erratic, with several hard freezes. The Japanese flowering Quince has bloomed (right top), but sparsely, as did the forsythia (bottom right.)

I had a few hyacinths (middle left), but there are fewer each year. The spurge (middle right), a drought resistant ground cover, is blooming now and looking quite robust even with frost at night.

The first of my lilies, Easter lilies are just coming up (bottom left). The tulips are up about 4 inches and the day lilies are about 6 inches tall now.
