Lake Adventure |
We arrived back at our cabin around noon and heated up the leftover potato soup. We ate it with deli chicken sandwiches made with homemade bread that Chris had brought from home. During lunch we considered our next move. It was decided that we would take another paddleboat ride, so after we cleaned up the dishes, we went down the hill to the marina.
The ride was quite an adventure. The cypress trees that lined the bank near the marina were beautiful and the reflections made for some great shots. We paddled our way to the center of the lake. It was easy with the wind to our backs. It was not easy at all, however, when we turned around and started to paddle back toward the marina. In fact, it was rather alarming. We had serious doubts that we were making enough progress to get back before our legs gave out. We had visions of spending the night in the middle of the dark lake - a prospect that seemed all too possible since no one knew we were out there. But we did make it safely back to the slip - and learned a valuable lesson. We determined to not take the boat very far from the marina on future paddleboat rides or to ever again miscalculate our strengths. Next Page |
