Our Last Paddle Boat Ride

Cypress along the lake's edge We stayed close to the bank this time
Boats at the Marina Great Blue heron

This would be the last full day at the park, and we would be paying a dear price for the use of the paddleboat, so we decided to take it out again. This time we stayed fairly close to the shore even though it was not windy.

We spotted a great blue heron under the cypress trees along the north bank near some Canada geese. We paddled in closer, thinking he would take flight at any moment. The large gray bird walked in the shelter of a large cypress as we neared, but did not fly until we were in good camera range. We both got several shots of him, and even a movie of him taking off.

When the wind began to gust we were glad we were not far from the Marina. Neither of us wanted to repeat the frantic paddling of yesterday. We took a few more shots of the lake and of a group of geese on the other side of the marina, then took the paddle back for the final time.     Next Page     Watch Movie
