Deer |
With wobbly legs we made it back to our cabin, just in time to see the deer again. Several had come down from the woods to eat acorns from under the oak trees that surrounded the cabins. I was even able to get close enough to pet one young buck. Such sweet eyes! I loved it. Watch Movie We decided to drive to Gore again to get chocolate for more S'mores and some starter fluid to make building a fire easier. On the way out of the park we stopped by the visitor center and asked what the deer like to eat so we could get some of that too. They said the deer liked apples, so we bought a bag of them at the grocery store. It wasn't long before we tested the theory that deer like apples. They were in the road above our cabin again when we returned. We hurriedly cut an apple in wedges and offered them to the deer. They sniffed the apples and returned to the ample acorns that were scattered everywhere. One of the deer did let Chris pet it, though. We didn't waste the bag of fruit. We ate fried apples with our supper of spoon bread and salad. After supper that evening, we played Scrabble in front of a dandy fire, made more S'mores, and went to bed tired and satisfied with our eventful day. Next Page Watch Movie |
