Goodbye to Greenleaf

Greenleaf Greenleaf State Park Greenleaf

I woke our last morning in the cabin dizzy and a bit nauseous. It was only a shadow of the vertigo attack that had sent me to the emergency room a couple of months ago, but Chris was pressed into the role of nurse for an hour or so while I regained my equilibrium. She also had to do virtually all of the packing up.

Chris got to feed the deer some of the peanuts while I slowly showered and dressed for the day. We'd finally found something they liked. The dog that belonged to the people across the road was on a leash, and the deer seemed to know they were safe. By the time I came out of the cabin, the deer were back in the woods, though, and although we could see them, they wouldn't be coaxed out again.

The brisk air outside the cabin felt good and although I was still a tad unsteady, I was ready to get on with the day. There would be no morning paddleboat ride, however, and we decided it wise to not do anything very strenuous that day.

We made sandwiches to take along for our lunch, and then went to settle up with Nick for the use of the paddleboat. We also gave him a few leftover groceries that we couldn't take with us, including over half of the ice cream we'd bought. He seemed pleased.

After taking a few more pictures at Greenleaf, and checking out at the visitor center, we left the park.        Next Page
