A Relaxed Morning in Coweta |
Chris and I woke at seven to the delightful smell of bacon frying in the kitchen below. When we came downstairs, Cheryl and her husband, Sandy, were in the kitchen. I poured myself a cup of coffee and we talked some about Sandy's hobby of Geocaching as Cheryl prepared our meal. I had heard of Geocaching, but had never talked to anyone who actually did it. We had lots of questions about it, and Sandy seemed to enjoy our interest. Sandy had to go before Cheryl served our tasty breakfast of juice, French toast, fried apples, and bacon. She ate a bowl of oatmeal with us in the dining room, then she was off to her job at the local bank. Instead of leaving our dishes for her to wash later as she suggested, we cleaned up after ourselves. We felt so lucky to have the whole house to ourselves, that it was a trifle. We played a game of hand and foot in the dining room after breakfast and talked about how to use our day. It was nice to have a big table to play on. The futon foot-stool we used at the cabin had been a little cramped. My husband had lived in Coweta when he was twelve when his father ministered to the First Christian Church there. By coincidence, Cheryl was the pianist at the same church, and she told us where it was - just three block away. We like to take pictures of interesting neighborhoods, anyway, so we decided to take a walking tour through the old part of town - and perhaps even get a picture of the parsonage, which he had said was just down the block from the church.
