We could have spent much more time than
we did at Longwood Gardens. The designers seemed to have struck a perfect balance between man-made
impositions and the grace of nature. What a beautiful
collaboration! This long narrow area is known as the Caryopteris Alle'e, and it is between the Rose Garden and the Topiary (seen below on the left). The gazebo-style structure in the foreground is called the Love Temple.
The weather was perfect the
morning we visited, which made it all the more lovely to stroll through
the acres of outdoor gardens. They were trimming the Topiary Garden while we were there. Many of the striking flower displays were
in analogous colors schemes
like this red
to yellow bed.
