| I don't know if the farm on
the left is Amish, but the one on the right is. I know because there
is a buggy out front. We were told that when a young Amish couple marry,
the groom's parents put a down payment on a piece of farmland and
the bride's parents provide the house. The youngest son inherits the
family farm.
when
he marries and his parents either build a cabin close by or set up an
apartment within the farm house that their son now owns. It seems an
impossible burden for farm people with large families, but somehow they not only make it work, but thrive under the system. The Amish community is growing fast. |
